It's funny, those things in life so random and obscure, that you never could've imagined them being part of your life, and now it's hard to imagine life without. Yerba Mate, an infusion made from the psychoactive leaves and stems from a South American tree in the Holly genus, is one of those things for me.  

I drink it near daily, with the occasional break to help my tolerance. It has many beneficial effects for body and mind. 1 decade after my first sip and I've gone through an estimated 120 kilos of the loose leaf. To be fair, much of that has been shared with others, as is the nature of the drink. I consume it in an endless variety of delicious forms, from the traditional loose-leaf-in-a-gourd method to a fruity lemonade infusion, & even a warm, comforting, creamy, cinnamon Mate Latte. But in the end, the reason I intend to keep it a part of my life-long daily and social rituals is the state of mind it helps me and others I share it with achieve.  

Just a few sips in and I'm feeling better than any other drink. It's taken me from dreading the day ahead to running at it head-on. It's helped me achieve states of flow so deep that time just melted away and before I knew it my project was done, and when looking back at the work the next day it was almost as if someone else had done it for me. It's taken me from wanting to lean into my introvert tendencies and just stay home to teaching in-person classes and courses for 20-50 people. It's helped me think creatively, solve problems, and see the world in an entirely more optimistic place. It's even helped me achieve what I would consider mystical and spiritual states of mind leading to personal revelations. Above all, my favorite thing about it is it helps me connect more deeply with myself and others. Especially when passing a gourd with others. There's nothing quite like a Yerba Mate fueled conversation, engaging & relaxing all at once.  

We are Good Omen, named thus to embody the concept that regardless of where we find ourselves in life, a Good Omen can always be found. Usually, it just takes a change of perspective. Yerba Mate is one of the best tools I've found to change my perspective in ways that help me focus on The Good Omens in my life.

One with another. In a world more connected than ever, many of us find ourselves feeling more disconnected, hopeless, and lonely than ever before. We recognize something isn't right with the world. With society. Something needs to change. And while we recognize that these problems are by no means simple things to solve, I firmly believe that the effects and ritual of sharing Yerba Mate, can be a catalyst for change. In My life. And though we are starting as simple online store, we have big plans through which we intend to share Yerba Mate with the world, in all the forms it has taken and surely the many more it will take, for like Humans, Yerba mate is an adaptive plant and drink that seems to find opportunity in any scenario, and never ceases to amaze me.
